Toddler’s Morning Out

Toddler's Morning Out began in the 1960s as Mother's Morning Out and has been offering a nurturing and stimulating "first school" experiences to toddlers ever since.
 TMO provides a caring atmosphere in which young children can develop basic skills and readiness for kindergarten by learning both through exploratory, self-directed play and through teacher-guided activities.

This is an opportunity for social development, which may include separating from a primary caregiver for the first time; developing the ability to share; learning to follow routines in a group setting; and respect for each other's needs in a safe, nurturing, supportive environment. Music, drama, Sportplay,, special visits, neighbourhood walks and field trips, and introduction to French are some of the "extras" that TMO offers.

We aim to develop creative thinking and emotional intelligence while learning through puzzles, games, books, arts and crafts, block play, manipulatives, sensory and dramatic play, designed to stimulate cognitive, creative, language, motor, and socio-emotional development. Music, stories, and learning games are offered every day by our classroom teachers during our fun, interactive "circle-time".

Toddler's Morning Out is part of the award-winning Grace Church on-the-Hill Child Care Centre, a non-denominational, non-profit organization which is licensed under the Day Nurseries Act of Ontario.

We encourage and plan for family involvement: two parents/caregivers visit the classrooms each day; each family has a turn about once per month.

 Staff/child ratio is 1:5 or better, with our experienced Early Childhood Educators having been trained in first aid, C.P.R. and Epi-pen administration.

School Year Program
 for 18 - 40 months 
 (3 age groupings)

Toddler (South) Room (10 children per day) 
Children will be divided into 2 age groupings:

• age 18 to 22 months as of September on Monday and Wednesday
• age 22 to 27 months as of September on Tuesday and Thursday

Preschool (North) Room (14 children/day)

• Children are between 28 and 40 months as of September
• Choice of 3 or 4 mornings/week
• Emphasis on developing emerging skill plus introduction to phonics and French

Hours of operation are 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
