The Rev. Maria Ling
Maria was born in Singapore to a Methodist father and an Anglican mother. The family worshipped and served at a Methodist church. Sensing a call to the ministry, Maria trained first in a short-term Bible school and then at Trinity Theological College, Singapore. She met her future husband at church where he was serving as the choir pianist as well as the keyboardist
for the Prayer and Praise services. Both in full-time Christian ministry, Maria and Swee Hong did graduate studies in the US at Southern Methodist University and Drew University. Living and
serving in various places with 1, 2 and then 3 children in tow; 4 of the 5 of us (Swee Hong, Maria, Evan and Zoe) have now lived in Canada since June 2012 while the oldest, David, lives in
Singapore. Lim Swee Hong serves as the Director of the Master of Sacred Music programme at Emmanuel College in Victoria University while Maria serves as a priest in the Anglican Diocese
of Toronto. Maria is completing the Master of Arts in Ministry and Spirituality (Spiritual Direction stream) at Regis College. She hopes to graduate in 2023.
