Terms and Remuneration: Full time, salary. Salary Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Renewal: Three-year term position that is renewable at the discretion of the Incumbent and Churchwardens of Grace Church on-the-Hill.
​
Purpose of position: The primary role of the Engagement & Family Life Minister is to nurture and promote faith and spiritual formation at Grace Church on-the-Hill. The person entrusted with this ministry will develop creative and thoughtful programming that welcomes new people to the church while at the same time developing social, learning, and spiritual programming that nurtures and deepens the faith life of current members of the community. Ultimately, the person in this role will exercise a ministry that is both invitational and nurturing, broadening the reach and engagement of the parish with the larger community and nurturing and growing the faith and spiritual life of the parish
community.

This role is open to both lay and ordained candidates. If ordained, one must be in good standing with the Anglican Church of Canada and licensed by the Bishop of Toronto to exercise ministry in the parish.

Core competencies:

Theologically trained. Ideally with a M.Div or M.A. in Theology.

Displays maturity and sensitivity towards all stages of faith and spiritual development

Deep faith in Christ and commitment to the Church's inclusive welcome and ongoing pastoral care of the baptized.
Population served: Potential Church Members, Newcomers, Children and Families, Congregational Members

Duties and responsibilities:
-
Welcome and Missional Ministry 20%: Develop social, educational, and spiritual programming that invites new people to the community and engages newcomers more fully in the life of the community.

Family Life Ministry 50%: Create programming that empowers parents in nurturing their children's faith and spiritual life as well as develop and implement a lectionary-based catechetical program for children and youth that both deepens children’s faith and spiritual growth and draws them more deeply into the liturgical life of the Church. Additionally, collaborate with clergy and the director of music in fostering children and youth participation in liturgy, through initiatives such as the children’s choir and summer camp and preparing children and youth to minister in the liturgy as altar servers and readers.

Engagement Ministry 30%: Together with clergy and lay leaders, develop and create programming that further engages all members in faith formation and spiritual growth through social, educational, and spiritual programming. This will include supporting Christian education initiatives, developing and hosting young adult groups as well as groups for other target groups in the congregation (e.g. seniors).

The person entrusted with this ministry will be invited to occasionally preach and officiate certain liturgical functions, particularly if the person is an ordained minister of the Church.
